"Girls' Day RPTU" and “MINT4 you-girls just wanna have science”

The Girls' Day on 13 September at RPTU and the “MINT4 you-girls just wanna have science” event on 26 September in Pirmasens pursued a common goal: to give girls an insight into MINT professions and to inspire them to train or study in this diverse field of work. At both events, BioVT offered a total of three workshops on the topic of ‘Microbial cell factories - the superpower of microorganisms’. The participants from grades 8-13 immersed themselves in the world of bioprocess engineering in the very well-attended courses. They were impressed by the great potential of tiny microorganisms, enthusiastically carried out their own cultivation experiments with yeast and were fascinated by the possibility of visualising their own skin flora. We hope that the students will maintain their enthusiasm for scientific topics and that we will see some of them again when they come to study at our institute.
