Wolfgang Laudensack represented the BioVT Working Group at RRB 2026, held in Leuven, Belgium, from 1–3 June 2026. During the conference, themed “Innovating Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow,” he presented the talk “Scale-up of a green waste biorefinery: Transferring pressing and fermentation to the technical scale” and engaged with experts from academia and industry.

The event highlighted recent advances in biotechnology, green chemistry, and sustainable energy supply for the production of bulk and fine chemicals. Particularly noteworthy were presentations on the valorization of sunflower stalks, an inline hydrogen sensor, and an automated adaptive laboratory evolution (ALE) system.

RRB 2026 provided an excellent opportunity for scientific exchange, networking, and the development of new collaborations. A special highlight was reconnecting with GreenProScale Project partner Emely Fuderer from KIT during the conference.
