Successful BioVT Alumni Meeting with Inspiring Talks and Great Conversations
On June 13, 2026, numerous BioVT alumni, staff members, and friends gathered in Kaiserslautern for the annual BioVT Alumni Meeting. After a welcome address, the event began with a barbecue lunch, providing the perfect opportunity to reconnect with former colleagues, make new contacts, and exchange experiences. The relaxed atmosphere quickly led to many engaging discussions about research, careers, and shared memories from time spent at BioVT.
The afternoon featured a diverse program of presentations. Judith Stiefelmaier provided fascinating insights into the world of cable bacteria and highlighted recent developments in this exciting research field. Tohmas Hahn introduced his work in Industrial Biotechnology at Fraunhofer IGB, demonstrating the broad range of practical applications for biotechnological processes and adminstration. Nils Tippkötter then presented his research on the utilization of regional residual biomass streams for the production of bio-based products and hydrogen through scalable processes. The Brewing and Beekeeping Group also shared updates on their latest activities and projects.
The presentations sparked lively discussions that continued over coffee and cake before the day concluded with an informal networking session. The positive atmosphere and the many stimulating conversations once again demonstrated the strength and vitality of the BioVT community.
We would like to thank all participants and speakers for making this event such a success and are already looking forward to the next BioVT Alumni Meeting!
