New project: Funding for Our Programs for Students and Teachers
This year, the BioVT department is once again receiving financial support through the “School–University Interface” funding line of the Ministry of Science and Health of Rhineland-Palatinate (MWG RLP). The program, which in previous years was known as TUK-junior and RPTU-junior, is now being continued under the name FirstSteps@RPTU. FirstSteps@RPTU aims to inspire students of all ages and school types to develop an early and lasting enthusiasm for scientific enquiry. It aims to strengthen motivation for future academic study and to foster individual interests and talents. Funding is provided for events held at RPTU. In the BioVT program, this includes the ‚Schnuppertage‘ regularly offered to advanced biology and chemistry classes, as well as the diverse iLAB workshops on various STEM topics. While the Schnuppertage are aimed specifically at older students, the iLAB-workshops appeal to a wider audience, including younger middle school students, as well as children and teenagers interested in STEM outside of the classroom. We are delighted about this renewed funding, which enables us to offer young people exciting insights into the world of the natural sciences and strengthen their enthusiasm for STEM in the long term.
