From Hive to Seed Bombs: A Class Visit to the Bee Club
A third-grade class from the Geschwister-Scholl-Schule in Kaiserslautern spent an exciting morning with the Bee Club of the Department of Bioprocess Engineering at RPTU in cooperation with the Rotary Club Kaiserslautern-Sickinger Land. The visit began with a colorful introduction to bee life and how honey is made, followed by plenty of curious questions from the children. Equipped with child-friendly veils (a big thank-you to the Sickingen-Hermersberg Beekeepers’ Association for the loan!), the class then visited the Bee Club’s hives in the biology department garden, where they observed the bees up close.
To round off the morning, the pupils crafted seed bombs—helping to promote biodiversity and support pollinators in their own gardens.
