Excursion to Evonik Industries in Hanau

The Institute of Bioprocess Engineering organised an excursion to Evonik Industries in Hanau on 24 April 2026 as part of the module SustainAbility. The visit focused on sustainability and modern industrial processes in industry.

The program included an introductory lecture on biotechnology and sustainability, an overview of process technologies, and an interactive life cycle assessment (LCA) of a cheesecake, demonstrating how sustainability can be analysed across an entire product chain. In addition, participants gained insights into current industrial challenges, innovative technological solutions, and sustainability strategies in practice.

The excursion provided valuable opportunities for discussion, networking, and learning more about career perspectives in a global chemical company. Overall, the visit offered an engaging connection between academic topics and real industrial applications.
