Summer-Internship: Research for a Sustainable Future

Do you want to gain valuable practical experience over the summer while making a difference in the world?
Are you looking for an inspiring environment where you can actively contribute?
Are you passionate about mechanics and love solving complex problems?

Then you are exactly what we're looking for!

We are seeking two highly motivated interns to join our research project. Together, we aim to develop innovative solutions to replace critical raw materials such as cobalt and tungsten in hard metal tools. Our goal is to make these tools more environmentally friendly and socially responsible by using recycled and alternative materials.

About Us:

At the Chair of Technical Mechanics and Computational Physics in Engineering, we work on pioneering models for the additive manufacturing process and the milling process using the Particle Finite Element Method (PFEM). These simulations are crucial for developing new manufacturing methods and improving the performance of tools.

What You Will Do:
  • Experience Real Research: Dive into a well-defined research task and discover if an academic career is right for you.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with dedicated PhD students and benefit from their experience and knowledge.
  • Exciting Research Environment: Gain insights into the exciting world of research and experience firsthand how innovative solutions for tomorrow's challenges are developed.

What You Bring:
  • Studies in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, mathematics, physics, or a related field, ideally with a degree
  • Reliability, commitment, and the ability to work independently
  • Team orientation and the willingness to collaborate with other disciplines
  • Solid knowledge in mechanics and the finite element method; knowledge in continuum mechanics is desirable
  • Programming skills (e.g., Python, C++, Matlab, Julia)
  • Interest in scientific work and good German and English skills
