With many years of experience in researching complex relationships between manufacturing processes, microstructure, and material properties, we offer expert consulting services for your material-related inquiries. In addition to fundamental materials testing (e.g., hardness measurements, tensile and impact tests, etc.), we also provide services using sophisticated analytics.

The evaluation of material behavior under monotonic and cyclic loading as well as creep load is carried out in our excellently equipped testing laboratories at WKK. With our mechanical testing facilities, we can apply the following test conditions:

  • Temperatures of up to 1200°C
  • Low Cycle, High Cycle, and Very High Cycle Fatigue
  • Uni-axial and multi-axial as well as thermomechanical fatigue loads
  • Constant and variable loads

Using high-resolution measurement technology, we can evaluate the measured fatigue behavior in detail. Based on this equipment, as well as on short-term cyclic indentation testing fatigue properties can be efficiently screened.

All experiments are perfectly complemented by our modern analytical methods, which range from classic metallography and high-quality scanning electron microscopy to X-ray diffraction analyses and magnetic measurement methods. This portfolio of methods enables microstructure analyses for a detailed understanding of the relationships between material structure and properties for micro and macro scales.

In addition, we conduct research on ultrasonic-assisted processes with a special focus on ultrasonic welding of similar and dissimilar materials. Our large ultrasonic welding laboratory includes nearly every welding variant for flat structures and a unique ultrasonic orbital welding system, which can join tubular structures. We can offer you advice on your existing systems, the development of suitable sonotrodes as well as customized studies on ultrasonic welding processes.
