Zeta potential
- Influences the stability of particles in a solution
- Can be changed by pH value, ion concentration and ion type of the solvent and by adding additives

Zetasizer Z
- Specialized for measuring the zeta potential
- Minimum sample volume: 20 µl
- Samples up to 40% w/v
- Also in non-aqueous media with high ionic strengths
- Application for nanoparticles, emulsions and macromolecules

  • Static and dynamic measurements of contact angles
    • Statement on wetting properties of the materials
  • Measurement of surface tension
  • Calculation of surface energies

Raman spectroscopy provides information on chemical structure, phase, polymorphism, crystallinity and molecular interactions. Typical areas of application are pharmaceuticals, life sciences, semiconductor technology and the analysis of minerals and carbonaceous materials. Raman spectroscopy is often superior to IR spectroscopy in the analysis of inorganic compounds because Raman spectra can also be recorded in aqueous solutions. As the Raman technique enables contactless and non-destructive analysis, in-situ or in-vivo measurements can be carried out on changing samples (e.g. due to mass transport or chemical reactions).

The Optical Multimode Online Probe is a new optical imaging measurement technique developed by the LRF Chair. The probe uses a shadow casting method that enables very precise imaging of the detection object. The camera and illumination are diametrically opposed in this measurement technique. The application of this technology is currently enjoying great popularity in industry and research and is therefore a favored field of development at the LRF Chair. There are probes for two-sided access to the apparatus as well as endoscope probes that can enter the system via just one standard flange. Droplets, bubbles, crystals, sprays and three-phase systems (solid / liquid / gas) can be examined.
