Equipment

At the LRF, we conduct research into how new materials and manufacturing processes can lead to higher-performance equipment and systems. Through the targeted refinement of parts and components, we enable more efficient and cost-effective processes—for example, by extending service life.

Equipment Projects

Sustainable Graphite-Polymer Composites for Plate Heat Exchangers

Using highly filled, PFAS-free graphite-polymer composites, we are developing a sustainable alternative to metal plate heat exchangers. Optimized manufacturing and joining processes enable the production of robust components that reduce fouling, are easier to clean, and thereby support more efficient processes and longer service life.

Direct Air Capture

Through experimental investigation of different packing types and geometries, we are optimizing the contact between air and the absorbent. The goal is to develop high-performance air contactors that efficiently capture CO₂ from the atmosphere despite its low concentration.

Reaction Mixing Pump: A Novel Reactor for Mixing-Sensitive Reactions

Reaction mixing pumps combine the intensive mixing of reactants with their transport, thereby opening up new possibilities for mixing-sensitive reactions. We are conducting experimental studies of this novel reactor concept and examining its integration into chemical synthesis processes.
