The concept combines electricity cost-optimized scheduling with a flexibly controllable batch process. Targeted oversizing creates additional degrees of freedom in order to shift production steps to time windows that are favorable from an energy and economic perspective. At the same time, various operating modes allow the power requirements of the process to be dynamically adapted to the electricity price and energy availability. Experiments and digital twins are combined to evaluate the effects on product quality, by-product formation, energy requirements and production costs.
