Chair overview
The Chair of Computational Physics in Engineering has existed since 11/2019 and emerged from the Chair of Applied Structural Mechanics (04/2017-11/2019). Prof. Kristin de Payrebrune is the head of the department.
The main research areas include topics on
- contact mechanics
- friction
- wear and tear
- structural mechanics
of application-related issues from various specialist disciplines. Experimental investigations are used to develop models that describe the complex interactions of the system and enable predictions to be made. The methods we use for this are
- Experimental investigations
- Numerical methods (FEM, DEM, FDM, CVD)
- Analytical models
