Who are we, what do we do?
The Institute designation "SAM" stands for "Fluid Mechanics, Acoustics and Fluid Flow Machinery (in german)". In 2008 the Institute was reorganized by merging the disciplines Fluid Mechanics and Fluid Flow Machinery. Since 1st October 2008 Prof. Dr.-Ing. M. Böhle is the Chairman.
The Institute SAM deals with questions of Fluid Mechanics, Acoustics and Fluid Flow Machinery in research and teaching and is therefore a necessary part of mechanical engineering and process engineering at the University of Kaiserslautern. The primary objective of our institute is to introduce young people to research and development activities and also participate in them.
The work areas of the institute can be divided into three groups (see Fig.). There are the areas of Teaching, Research and industial projects. In teaching, the staff passes there knowledge to the students. The research is used to expand the state of knowledge. Of particular importance are the industrial projects. By working on industial projects, the institute receives information about the development of teaching as well as future research topics to be carried out caused by the necessity for technology development.
The institute SAM has modern test rigs, calculation and simulation methods as well as experience in research, teaching and industrial projects. Kindly we provide our test rigs and calculation and design methods along with our experience for an implementation of research and/or industrial projects. Our web pages give an impression of our possibilities. Would you like to get in touch with us, please contact:
