Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jan Aurich elected to the German Academy of Science and Engineering
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jan Aurich has been elected as a new member of the German Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech). The election was decided by the General Assembly at its last meeting on November 4, 2014 and has now been announced. acatech is the national academy funded by the German federal and state governments and the voice of the technological sciences in Germany and abroad. It recognizes outstanding scientific achievements and invites experts to contribute their expertise to advising policymakers and society.
The Academy is a place of exchange between science and industry, politics and the public. To this end, it relies on its members, who form a network of outstanding scientists. They come from the engineering sciences and applied natural sciences, but also from the humanities and social sciences. The acatech members work together with external scientists in interdisciplinary projects - enriched by practical expertise from industry and society. As an internationally oriented academy, acatech aims to make a contribution to solving global challenges and combine this with value creation prospects for Germany.
