Arbeitskreis Sub-zero Kühlschmierstoffe in der Zerspanung

Optimized machining strategies are necessary for efficient machining of high-performance materials, particularly with regard to the cooling concept used. At the FBK, the advantages of conventional liquid cooling lubricants and cryogenic machining were combined in a new type of sub-zero cooling lubricant, which can be tempered down to -40 °C and fed to the contact zone. As a result, longer tool life, improved chip breaking, optimized surface layer properties and new processes are made possible.

In order to make the best possible use of the potential of this innovative cooling concept, a working group has been set up at the FBK, which will take place again this year. We therefore cordially invite you to participate in our working group meeting on October 12, 2023 at RPTU in Kaiserslautern.

Within this working group, we will present approaches and improvements for the use of sub-zero metalworking fluids in machining and discuss them with you. In the context of keynote speeches, we will provide an overview of current research results regarding the use of the new cooling concept in machining. In addition, the use of sub-zero cooling concepts will be clearly demonstrated in our test field.
