Surface structuring by cold-sprayed fine particles

In this project, the component surfaces are structured by a cold spray process using fine particles. With this process the particles are shot onto the component surface that lead to a special surface morphology and modification of functionality. To investigate the relationship between the process parameters and obtained morphology experimental and numerical methods are used. The application of novel measurement techniques (high temperature nanoindentation and particle image velocimetry) enables the extraction of parameters for models and simulations that take the real process conditions into account. This includes the measurement of the mechanical properties of particles and substrates as well as the particle velocity. The different application possibilities of the structured surfaces are investigated in cooperation with other subprojects within the SFB 926.
