Multi-criteria optimization in process engineering
The optimization of technical processes is a core task of engineering. In practically all technical optimization tasks, various competing objective variables must be taken into account. In multi-criteria optimization, all these competing objectives are explicitly taken into account and not - as is usually the case - combined in a single objective function. The result of multiobjective optimization is an overview of all reasonable trade-offs, from which particularly attractive solutions can be selected. This has great practical advantages. In MIMO, we will develop methods for applying multiobjective optimization to process engineering tasks. The issues range from the development of thermodynamic models to process optimization. Dimensionless key figures and their use in connection with multi-criteria optimization will play a special role.
