The Chair of Applied Mechanics (LTM) within the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering is engaged in research and teaching in the field of applied mechanics and numerical methods. The main focuses of the research activities are modeling, analysis, and strength assessment of mechanical components and structures, as well as the further development of element technology for numerical methods. The areas of work include, among others, multiscale material modeling, coupled multiphysics problems, fracture and micromechanics, structural elements, design of efficient element formulations, discretization and mesh coupling methods, and contact mechanics.
