Philipp Schwartz Forum – Supporting At-Risk Researchers
The Philipp Schwartz Forum 2026 convened more than 370 participants in Berlin on April 9 and 10, 2026—including Philipp Schwartz and MSCA4Ukraine fellows, their academic mentors, as well as representatives from academia and politics—to exchange views on academic freedom, international cooperation, and current challenges facing the research system.
The event was organized by the Philipp Schwartz Initiative of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. For ten years, the foundation has been committed to supporting at-risk researchers through this initiative.
Our institute also took part in the Philipp Schwartz Forum 2026 in Berlin. A special connection arises from the integration of the Ukrainian researcher Olha Aleksieieva into our team as part of the MSCA4Ukraine program. In this context, the forum offered valuable insights into current funding initiatives and the support available to at-risk researchers in an international setting.
