Award for Outstanding Master’s Thesis: Mr. André Lier receives Sparkassenstiftung Award

We warmly congratulate our colleague André Lier on receiving the Sparkassenstiftung Award for his outstanding master’s thesis, “Influence of the Mechanical Properties of Suspended Elastic-Plastic Microparticles on Sediment Porosity in a Centrifugal Field.”

The thesis investigates the compaction behavior of suspended elastic-plastic microparticles in a centrifugal field. For this purpose, an experimentally validated CFD-DEM model was developed with which the particle compaction in centrifuges can be calculated. The results are already being used in research projects and industrial applications.

The thesis was carried out at our chair and was awarded the highest possible grade (1.0).
